Among the objects on display are his three Ballon d’Or trophies, the European Player of the Century trophy, historic (worn) shirts, golden boots, and original graphic posters, complemented by unique photographs. This remarkable collection is combined with works by Dutch artists such as Erwin Olaf, Lorenzo de Bruin, Frank E Hollywood, and Street Art Frankey, each of whom has been inspired in their own way by Cruyff’s vision and ideas.

The exhibition opens shortly after the screening of a new documentary on Johan Cruyff’s life on 21 March at the Johan Cruyff ArenA, which aims to set a Guinness World Record for the largest public documentary premiere ever.

Moco Museum, renowned as a place where contemporary art, ideas, and societal movements converge, positions this exhibition firmly at the intersection of art, sport, and philosophy. Worldwide, this is the first fully authenticated exhibition entirely devoted to Johan Cruyff’s cultural and intellectual legacy.

The exhibition reveals Johan Cruyff as you have never seen him before: not only on the pitch, but also as a visionary thinker. From the streets of Amsterdam to the stadiums of Barcelona, Cruyff developed a way of thinking that extended far beyond football. His ideas continue to shape the way we play, create, learn, and lead. His curiosity, courage, and innovative mindset take centre stage, showing how his way of thinking still inspires today.

Johan Cruyff: A Way of Thinking is a temporary exhibition, exclusively on view from 24 March to 24 April 2026 at Moco Museum Amsterdam. It is a tribute to a globally iconic thinker, rooted in Amsterdam—the city where his vision began and where Moco Museum opened its doors ten years ago.

“You’ll only see it when you get it.”

— Johan Cruyff

“Johan Cruyff’s philosophy has always inspired me. His curiosity, courage, and innovative vision show that having your own perspective and daring to act opens doors—literally and figuratively. When Moco Museum opened its doors ten years ago on 24 March, his vision was a source of inspiration. It is an honour to now showcase his legacy and influence in our museum. Moreover, Johan Cruyff has always been my hero, and 14 will always remain my lucky number.”

— Lionel Logchies, Founder & CEO, Moco Museum

I haven’t always been understood. As a footballer, as coach and also for what I did after all that. But OK, Rembrandt and Van Gogh weren’t understood either. That’s what you learn: people go on bothering you until you’re a genius.

The Moco Museum is one of our favorite places to visit in Amsterdam! It’s smaller than some of the big museums in the city, which actually makes it perfect for a quick and enjoyable visit without feeling rushed. The space is beautifully designed with so many cute and creative photo spots. We also loved how interactive the exhibits are. What stood out most to me were the meaningful quotes and inspiring messages throughout the museum. I left feeling so motivated and uplifted. Definitely a must-visit for art lovers and anyone looking for a fun, modern museum experience in Amsterdam!

Moco Museum is one of those places that instantly sparks your creativity 🎨💭 From the moment you walk in, every corner feels like a piece of art — colorful, modern and full of meaning. It’s not your typical museum… it’s more like stepping into a visual dream. The lights, the mirrors, the pop art. Whether you go on a date, with friends or solo, it’s one of those experiences that leaves you inspired and with the prettiest photos 💕. A must if you’re in Amsterdam

"Nice modern museum and Moco Amsterdam is the second Moco we visited after the one in Barcelona. I recommend it, and our kids loved the modern / contemporary art more than the classic style museums. In Amsterdam especially good on a rainy day when you can escape to a museum."

Today’s visit to the Moco Museum in Amsterdam was a highlight of our trip. Housed in a beautiful townhouse just off Museumplein, Moco manages to blend history and rebellion, elegance and disruption, all under one quirky roof. The Banksy collection is every bit as impactful in person as you would expect - sharp, irreverent, and full of hidden (and not-so-hidden) messages. Alongside Banksy, we explored works by Keith Haring, Basquiat, Warhol and other visionary artists who challenge the status quo with colour, energy, and wit.

I recently visited the Moco Museum in Amsterdam and had a fantastic experience! The museum features an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art, including some iconic works by Banksy - definitely a highlight for me. The pieces were thought-provoking and well-curated, making the visit truly memorable. If you're into street art, pop art, or just want to see some bold, creative works (like Banksy’s), Moco Museum is a must-visit in Amsterdam. Highly recommend!
